Aside from parking, the social atmosphere wasn't what I hoped for. I lived here as freshman RM, and I wish I had lived off campus instead. They advertise it like it's on campus housing for older students, but it's a pretty awkward mixture of a bunch of young kids who just finished high school and a few older ones.

Social atmosphere SUCKS. If you want to make friends with people other than your roommates, live somewhere else.

Stove, oven, and dishwasher are not the best. Also, if your dishwasher actually DRAINS the water when it's done, then consider yourself blessed.

Washer and dryer will wreck your clothes

No on-site parking. If you have a car and do not want to get ticketed every time you park, live somewhere else.

No storage, shelves, or counter space in bathrooms. there IS a vanity in the hall with 6 tiny shelves, but it is not enough room and it can get VERY crowded.

Parking issues alone made Heritage a 2 star experience for me. If you have a car, you need to look elsewhere for student housing.

PROS:

LOCATION. 5 minute walk to Marriott Center and LaVell Edwards Stadium, 5-10 minute walk to campus, close to BYU creamery on 9th.

For the year that I lived here, student parking for Heritage was allowed in rows 7-13 at the BYU conference center on a "first come, first serve basis." That might not even be half of what Heritage actually needs. Every night except Saturday, cars would prowl the parking lot or sit and idle forever in hopes of a spot opening up...because if you don't play the game to get a parking spot, your only options are to get ticketed or park a full mile away across from the football stadium.

CONS:

Reasonable kitchen space

Each bedroom has 2 closets so you and your roommate aren't cramming your clothes into one shared space

Walking a mile to and from my car was a horrible arrangement for student housing. Most often, these walks were late at night and in the dark. I had a job, so I had to leave campus to work, which meant losing my parking spot (if I was lucky enough to get one). It wasn't worth the time and stress of a 20+minute walk just to arrive at my car.

Overall, decent place for freshman year. After that, get out.

I have lived here for two days. What an adventure! Great living space, plenty of room, and neighbors aren't bad either. My only complaint is the ironing board. For lack of better terms, it's trash. I tried ironing my shirt yesterday for a special occasion and the rickety, old, bare-bones board gave me nothing but troubles. The metal of the board is covered by a glorified water-proof napkin. The iron kept running into screws on the surface, creating an odd pattern of bumps on my blouse. Other than the ironing board, Heritage Halls is a wonderful establishment!

I lived here during summer term and loved it! Buildings and apartments are clean with strict monthly cleaning checks, all the appliances worked, and maintenance was reliable. The location is great (about 4-5 minute walk to the HBLL)! The wards definitely have more girls than guys (about 3:2) but are still really fun. I would highly suggest for freshmen, especially those going for summer or spring terms

Wards are usually all freshmen (under 19)

Heritage Halls is a great place to live while attending BYU. The buildings are conveniently located near campus and students do not have to walk uphill to get to class. The creamery is nearby and the Provo Temple is about a 15 minute walk away. The kitchens are nice and are spacious. Most floors have a piano/music room, and the main building has pool tables and other sources of entertainment. Bus stops are nearby for both The Ryde and city buses. The only downside is that parking is very limited.

I don't understand why they built such a huge housing complex without parking, but that's the new Heritage. If you have a car, just go elsewhere. BYU parking enforcement doesn't care that you'll never have a spot here. My freshman year would have been far less stressful without Heritage parking.

Cleaning checks can be super anal-retentive.
