Currently under construction and it looks like its going to be a much nicer building. This school is a Title I School so they get to use a lot of technology in the classroom which is great. Wonderful staff and great principal!
My son attended 2nd grade and at that time had been diagnosed with extremem ADHD challenges. His teacher was Mrs. Ferrin. The entire school year she was unable to manage the class and him. She would constantly badger me, ask me to come and sit with him through class or else he would have to go home! My son's doctor wrote several letters requesting the school to place him in a special education class where his needs would be better met. I even had the teacher talk to his doctor because she was convinced it was not ADHD and there was something wrong with him! She even had the nerve to ask if something was going on at home....The principle told me in a meeting , after the doctor had faxed over a request for a smaller classroom with a teacher who was better equipped to deal with developmental and emotional disturbances, he told me that the special ed program was only for those students who are 1-clind, 2-deaf, 3-in a wheel chair and that my son did not qualify even under the disability act (which ADHD does fall under that category). In April, they finally contacted us to do an evaluation and to place him in the special ed program for next year!!! I was so fed up with the stupid teacher and school! She would make sure when I would pick him up everyday to come over to my car and complain about everything he did that day...and what was funny was the doctor wrote her several letters explaining his strange behaviors and that was what children with his diagnosis do.. She thought that she was right and would constantly question the doctors working with my son! She even asked me if he had his medication everyday, which a school is not spposed to request a child to take medication. I removed my son from this school!!!
I went to school here for my entire elementary experience and never had any problem. The same goes for all 3 of my siblings and many many cousins. The school sure is a bit old but is now undergoing renovations. I even worked their for a year before leaving on my mission and worked very closely with all of the teachers as i was a custodian. I knew each of them very personally and can say with confidence that they are all great people and wonderful educators. When i first started working there there my first boss as a custodian took a very quick turn for the worst when the stress got to him but he made the best choice for himself and went elsewhere. The custodian there now Mr. Beard was always a fantastic person and probably the best boss i've ever had.
Great school, principal, staff, teachers and people! There will be a new school that will be done next year!
Great teachers here
