Bar none, the worst police force in Utah county. We had a car stolen and they wouldn't even come by to take a report.

We called the non-emergency number and an office was dispatched. From the beginning, the officer seemed to try to deflect his involvement--at one point telling me to file a police report on the Provo City Website. It appears that this officer wants to avoid the paperwork involved with his job. This officer was completely dismissive and informed me that my only recourse it to call 911 during the next party.

Today we called the non-emergency number to report a chronic problem in our Provo neighborhood. One home hosts frequent loud parties that usually start around 10 PM and go until well after 4:00 AM. The mornings following the parties our street is lined with litter including beer bottles, beer caps, cigarette butts, and garbage.

Provo police department responded quickly and perfectly to an intruder on our property. Thank you for all you do, I wish I could give more stars to balance out all of these people who are mad they got caught committing a crime!

So, Provo Police, per instruction from this officer that seemed to not want to be involved, we will be calling in the middle of the night during the next party. Hopefully this doesn't take critical resources away from serious emergencies!

Seriously? Isn't 911 for fires, bleeding and dying, heart attacks, horrific car accidents, etc? Wouldn't it be better to deal with a ruined mail box and over-the-top parties during non-emergency hours? According to this officer, no.

In light of the recent discussion of whether police departments in the U.S. are overly militarized and adversarial toward the public, let me describe my experience. On June 14, 2014 I had to pick up my 90 year old mother to take her to an appointment. As I drove south on University Avenue I realized I would have a problem getting to her residence (Courtyard at Jamestown--an assisted care center). The Provo Canyon Half-Marathon was underway that morning, and the traffic was very slow owing to the hundreds of runners and the barriers that had been set up to protect the runners. Police officers were directing traffic. As I came to the intersection where I needed to turn east (left) to get to my mom's residence, a police vehicle was in the turn lane and orange traffic cones were set up to keep drivers from turning. I felt very frustrated and wondered how I would get my mom to her appointment on time. I drove a few blocks to the next intersection. There were cones there but no police vehicle so I decided to turn there, driving slowly so as not to endanger runners. I then headed back toward the intersection at which I needed to turn to pick up my mom. Within 30 seconds a motorcycle cop was behind me, lights flashing. I turned at the intersection and pulled over. The police officer asked why I had turned against the cones. I explained. He took my license, ran a check, and returned the license. To my relief he did not give me a ticket. But he did tell me what I should have done--I should have talked to a police officer and had him or her help me get to my mom's residence. That idea had never occurred to me. In the heat of the moment, I had seen the police as part of the problem, when I should have seen them as the way to solve my problem. Next time I'll do things differently. Thanks.

They sit at the bottom of a hill near my house and write tickets all day. When I confronted one of them about it they said that they got more points for tickets then making criminal arrests !

This is the worst, most corrupt police department in the whole valley. They will do anything they can to catch you doing anything, especially if your known. You make a few mistakes, become known as a criminal, how is it your ever going to change, become a better person with a corrupt police department that, if they didn't find anything during their first illegal search, then they'll do another. Then Bam! What do you know. Drugs, stolen items, etc, all just magically appearing out of thin air. Amazing...

Very disappointed Provo resident.

We have tried to be understanding because the home occupants are 20 something young men who just seem to be sewing some wild oats. Last night the problem came to a head with noise in the middle of the night, engines revving, and boisterous behavior. In the morning, as usual the street was lined with garbage but as an added benefit, the mailbox of a 90 year old neighbor was destroyed.
