This place almost always "looks" closed, but it's actually open. It's just very quiet. If you can't get in, try the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum next door and they can often get someone to let you in and show you around. The village features houses, school and work buildings from the first Provo pioneer settlers. It's most popular on July 24, Pioneer Day, when volunteers will help you make crafts and demonstrate all kinds of pioneer skills. Definitely worth checking out.
One visit was enough, though.
They have a scavenger hunt for kids which they loved. It is set up in a way that you can rush through or take your time and still enjoy yourself
Lots of fun for the kids, come when the blacksmith is working, it's really cool!
This interesting, free historical park has costumed interpreters. There are free games and activities. It was a pleasant place to visit. Our young children were finished exploring in about 30 minutes but they had lots of questions and it definitely made them think.
Volunteers dress in pioneer clothing and lead tours that last roughly an hour. They love the village and are very knowledgable! A warm and memorable experience. Highly recommend.
